Canes GM here....
I really thinks Mattias Ohlund DF should be much higher than 69. This guys is a shut down D-Man. I wouldn't be scared to compare him to the like of Phillips and Vochelkov in Ottawa.
Thanks

just a reminder about Mike Smith for a rerate
i dunno what stats should go up but i feel the guy should at least be a 75 ov with the stats he put up last year - he played very well in 20 something games.

Calgary Flames #1 Rerate: Defenseman Jordan Leopold In his first two full seasons as a Flame, Leopold played in 156 games, and posted 53 points (11 G, 42A) with a plus minus rating of +14, I feel his 42 assists and his "Ability to start the transition game" should easily boost his 56 in passing and 61 in puck control. In the 2003-2004 Season he was tied for 9th in scoring among defenseman, which should boost his scoring. His combined +14 and "Ability to move the puck quickly out of danger" should improve his 69 in defense, as his potential shows him as being a top four defenseman. In 2005-2006, he posted only 41 giveaways, showing his ability to selectively pass the puck. Lastly, i feel that as his scouting report states that he is positionally sound, he should probably get some boosts in all categories pertaining to a defenseman. In 2003-2004 Leopold was 33rd of 916 in the nhl in Time on Ice, 64th out of 870 in 2005-2006, Which should raise his 65 in durability. Leopold was assesed only 92 PIM in 156 games between the 03-04 and 05-06 seasons, showing his discipline I feel that Leopold has gotten a bum rap in these ratings because of his injury in 2006-2007. As this injury is his first significant injury, I feel that it is unjustified. 1. Samuel Pahlsson 2. Francois Beauchemin 3. Ilya Bryzgalov
1. Samuel Pahlsson is probably the most erroneous player in the sim. The Selke trophy runner-up had a low +/- because he usually plays against the other's top line and has very limited offensive roles. He isn't here to score, he's here to save goals. Despite his low scoring, his +/- was only -4, which is what the formula is based on. His DF should be among the league leaders (Brind'amour won and has an 81). I think a 79 would be a fair re-rate.
Anyone who watched him in the playoff run knows that this guy plays a huge role in shutting down the other team's best. If you saw him man-handle Spezza and the Sens big 3 you'd realize that this guy is awesome.
I also think he need to be made stronger on his skates (tsn.ca's scouting reports agrees) (SK, SP) and stronger in general (ST). If he's fighting with Heatley (ST 80), he's a tough cookie.
2. Francois Beachemin. This is a guy who deserves far more respect than he gets. He's played a pivotal role as #2 and #3 defenseman on teams that have been to the conference finals and cup champions, respectively. He is a stud shut-down guy who also contributes offensively. He has one of the hardest shots from the point according to tsn. He is strong as an ox and dominates physically.
I think his DF should be increased as well as his IT and ST. He plays a solid game and has had success to the most elite level. Had he not been playing with Niedermayer and Pronger he would have had more publicity. He was spectacular filling the void when Pronger was suspended in the playoffs twice.
3. Ilya Bryzgalov. One of the top ranked goalies this season was JS Giguere, but he didn't have the outright starter position because of the progress of Bryzgalov He played in 11 playoff games with a 1.47 GAA and .944S% two seasons ago and 5 this year.
In fact, he's rivaled with Giggy for the starters position the year before too, posting two great GAA average (2.51, 2.47) and outstanding Save % (.910, .907). He's also played a lot of games and should have a higher endurance and experience. TSN lists his pros: "Has great size and goaltending instincts. Possesses a wealth of experience in big-game situations." He has the endurance to play 74 games in a season in the minors.
I believe he should be more durable and have a higher endurance, he was playing much more than most back up goalies on a first place team that play behind a superstar. He should also be more IT and have better Puck control of his rebounds (he is a positional goalie).
Anyways, these are my two cents. Looking forward to the re-rates.

Wings rerate #2: Dominik Hasek sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/260This link provides all the data you need to see that, though Dom is old, he is still the Dominator. He posted 8 shutouts last season with a phenominal sv% and GAA. I look at his ratings in our league and he is far below the standard of what I consider elite goaltenders. No, he is no Brodeur or Luongo, and yes I'll only have him for a single season, maybe two if he stretches his career longer, but I would like to get the most I can out of him while I can. I think his ratings need to be looked at.

Habs Re-rates 1: Michael Handzus Handzus needs a better df rating. This guy was a runner up for the selke trophy as best defensive forward in the league when he was younger in St Louis. His DF should be around 74 or 75 His SK should also be at least 71. His PC should also be around 70. tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=66&hubname=nhl-kings2. Andrei Markov Andrei is Montreals best defenseman by far. He plays on the power play and is their main shut down defenceman. His DF rating of 69 is a joke. He should be around the 73 or 74 level at least. tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=2055&hubname=nhl-canadiens3. Mattias Norstrom Mattias has been one of the best defensive defencemen in the league for years. He's getting older but is still getting quality icetime in L.A because he makes smart defensive plays and dosent panic with the puck. Norstrom was L.A's captain for the last couple years. His DF rating should be around 75 while his IT should be around 69 to 70. tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=427&hubname=nhl-stars

Vinnie, there is a section in the forums to post your position changes. I'll take care of these guys but just so you know in the future, I could easily miss it if posted in the wrong thread.

The NYR are happy with their ratings.
We would however, like Marc Staal, Al Montoya and Hugh Jessiman rated if possible and placed on the farm.
Thanks.

Now that Mattias Ohlund is a 80ov player, that trade for the 2nd overall looks even worst.

so far ive used just 1 rerate
id also like to try to rerate Dandenault - he had an off year last year but i think his OV and DF deserve to be a bit higher
here are his career stats and he's just 31 years old:
766 55 122 177 +46
+46 +/- rating - i think his DF deserves to be a bit higher than the 68 it's now set at. I'd be happy if his ov went up by a point or two.
His last 3 seasons were particularly good for him:
82 5 15 20 +8 65 3 9 12 +9 74 4 15 19 +25
id recommend giving him some more PC and PA b/c he gets some assists and shoots more than a shot per game - he has just 59 in each category right now.
869 shots in 766 career games - proves he shoots a decent amount.

3rd and final rerate: Sergei Zubov (80) 1012 148-g 584-a 732-pts +146 325-PIM 2167-shots His #s are outstanding. compare him to: Schneider (80OV, 75DF) - 663-pts in 1132 games - not as good as Zubov yet his DF is higher and OV the same Niedermayer (84OV) - 608-pts in 1053 games - Zubov's #s are still more impressive. i'm just hoping to get an 82 or 83 OV out of Zubov with a higher DF (and maybe PA) rating than he has right now. Thanks
